Building Game:
A game in which students were asked to build a tower with the help of square blocks, by putting one above the other to obtain the maximum height till the tower fell down.
OLD MANAGEMENT (OPEN EYE)...
Confused!! what Open Eyes means in relation to Management .... first GAME then LEARNING ...
After explanation of the game, we were asked to set target i.e. maximum number of blocks by which tower can be built. Various responses were collected from students having range from 10 to 30. After that a student was chosen from the class, who had highest bidding. Then he was asked to perform the exercise. Surprisingly he built the tower with 22 blocks, which was more then the target which he had set for himself, which was originally 14 blocks.
so what are the observations???
In Old management style/ Craftmenship one person does all the work. No distribution of work though the person skills increases but on account of productivity decrease.( In this example lets take 22 blocks as Productivity)
NEW MANAGEMENT (Blind Folded ) ...
Now the second team came to the arena. Ops I used the word 'team', Yes! I am start talking management concepts. The second team has team member consisting of CEO, Manager and the building block of the organization , the worker.
And the Management MOJO happened. The tower crossed the mark of the Open Eye case and even reached to the level of 25 blocks.
GAME OVER>>> LEARNING START<<<
Let us put pieces of events together...
In first case the work was done by only one person... means no division of work... but in second case the work has been divided into elements and decision making capability of the worker (blind folded) is taken away, we have managers for that.
And the results we got are really impressive, critical clear of job responsibilities (work elements) and great coordination results into the higher productivity.
So in Modern Management though the skill of the blind folded person doesn't increase but that leads to the achieving the objection which here was to have higher productivity.
SO GEAR UP FOR MORE FUN LEARNING ... stay tune... keep reading :)
